I
have a question not listed here.
How do I sign up for
my free "chchurch.com" Email box?
Simply
send your name and an initial password. Your box will be set up using your
first and last name as the "username" and the "password" which you
select.
After you send the information, wait a day or two, then login
to your box and immediately
change your password so only you will have it. Be sure to write down your
password and keep it in a safe place because our servers do not store passwords.
We can reset your password to something new, but we have no way of retrieving
lost passwords.
How do I login to my new Email box?
After you
email your
name and password, wait a day or two and then go to
http://mbox.chchurch.com/index.php. Type in your name, first and last, with no spaces
in the "Username" box. Just below your name,
type in your password. (You must type the password exactly.
The server distinguishes between capital letters and lower case.) Your box
should open.
How do I change my password?
It is
recommended that you change your password so only you will know it. Once
you have logged in, click the "Options" tab. A new page will come up allowing you to change your password.
I'm having trouble logging in.
PLEASE
NOTE: The password server is "case sensitive" meaning you must enter your
password exactly as you chose it in order to login. For example, if
you capitalized the password you chose, you must capitalize it when you enter it
on the login page, etc.

spam.
After logging in your box, click on the "Options" tab.
Enable "Spam Assassin" and choose a setting from 1 - 10 for blocking spam. A higher setting allows more emails to
get through. A low setting blocks more emails. Spam Assassin does not
read emails - it calculates the probability of a particular email being spam,
based on several factors including the number of attachments, the size of
attachments, whether the email was forwarded and whether the email was sent just
to you or to several people. The email is then assigned a number
representing the probability that it may be spam. If it appears certain
that the email is spam, it is given a rating of "10". If there is at least
a slight chance that it is spam, it is given a rating of "1". Therefore,
if you set your filter on "1", everything with a slight chance - on up to a
great chance - of being spam is blocked from your box. If you select "10",
almost everything will come through.
Even selecting a low setting still
may not block all offensive spam. In addition to Spam Assassin, your
options also contain "Mail Filtering" which allows you to block emails
based on their content, rather than on their probability of being spam.
You can set your Mail Filtering to reject emails based on a specific word and
you can also select whether the Mail Filter should look for the specific word in
the subject line or in the body of the email.
Spam Assassin also contains a "Blacklist" feature which allows you to completely
block a specific email address from getting through at all.
Someone sent me an email and it didn't get to me.
Even though they were not sending you spam, Spam Assassin may have thought otherwise and blocked the email.
You may want to consider raising your spam factor. Also, the email may
have contained a word which you have added to your Mail Filter list. For example, you may have
set your filter to stop emails containing word "refinance" and a friend may have tried to send you an email
which contained that word.
This problem can be eliminated by adding your friend's email address to your "Whitelist", a Spam Assassin feature which allows you to list addresses which you would like to receive email
from no matter how high the probability of spam and no matter what the content.
You can also enable your "Junk Folder" which will allow emails of a high spam
probability and email containing "filtered" words to go to your Junk Folder,
rather than being bounced back to the sender. However, if you have
"Blacklisted" a particular address, all emails from that address will still
bounce back to the sender instead of going into the Junk Folder.
Why is there a
10 MB storage limit on my email account?
Because this is a free service, our server resources are
limited. We are only able to continue offering this service at no cost as
long as the combined usage for all boxes stays within a certain megabyte limit.
Many people are now using email boxes to store photo albums and important
documents, much like a Safety Deposit Box. If you have large files that must be stored, consider opening a free email box
on Google which has a limit of 1 gigabyte (1000 MB). You can forward
emails with large attachments to your Google box and then delete them from your chchurch.com
box.
Emailing several photos can quickly take up your limit. Many photos are in
excess of 1 MB each in size if they are not edited and resized before they are
emailed. Also, if someone emails a photo to you and then you email it to
another person, a copy of the photo will be in both your Inbox Folder and your
Sent Folder, doubling the amount of space it is using in your box. To
avoid such duplication, consider deleting the email from your Sent Folder after
it is successfully sent. Most other space problems resulting from
photo-emailing can be avoided simply by deleting the email from your box after
you forward it to your Google box or after you save the photo to your hard
drive.
Can I forward my
chchurch.com box to my existing box?
The Options tab allows you to forward the emails received in
your chchurch.com box. If you do forward your email, please select the
option which does not leave a copy of the forwarded email in your chchurch.com
box; or alternatively, please periodically log directly into your chchurch.com
box to clean it out by deleting all old emails. Otherwise, your
chchurch.com box will continue accumulating emails until your MB limit is
reached.
