Go Serve Griffin
Teaching others about Christ is one of the highest callings of the Church. Jesus said, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:20, KJV). During the COVID-19 pandemic, many churches used this time to be creative and not allow the virus to keep them from fulfilling God’s call. In Griffin, Georgia, North Griffin CH Church took the challenge from Mission USA to Go Serve their community and their students in the church by spreading the love of Christ through delivering Vacation Bible School materials June 22-25, 2020.
Leading up to their Go Serve week, members of North Griffin gathered to pack boxes that included: a bible story, a life application story, activity sheet, craft, and snack. In all, 52 packets were delivered each night to children in the community. On the last night, each home also received two food boxes filled with dry goods, produce, and fresh meat.
“I share these few words with a grateful heart for the reception we received during our community outreach for VBS. We, like others, could not gather at a church setting, so we took an excited group of our youth in the area around our church with Bible lessons and ending the final evening with a couple of boxes of food and produce. The excitement of those in our group sharing the Good News of our Savior was incredible to see. We have had good comments of thanks and some planning to visit our church! I especially want to thank all that had any part in making this a success! Pray and believe with us that the small seeds planted will grow into a hunger for more of God! God Bless You All” - Pastor Gene Luke
